Water Acclimation
A parent and child class designed to gently introduce babies to submerging
underwater. All of our parent/child classes involve parents and baby in
lovingly supported games and songs that teach initial swimming techniques
and confidence.
Waterbabies
A parent participation class for babies who have submerging skills. Little
ones between 6 months and 3 years will learn 8 to 10 second underwater
breath control.
Advanced Waterbabies
A program for babies who have achieved 8 to 10 second breath control. This
parent participation class teaches children 6 months to 3 years old to move
3 feet through the water.
(Typically ages 2 and 3 years)
Aquababies
This class is designed for 2 year olds who are already moving 3 feet through
the water. Parents are on deck during this class. Babies swim an increased
distance to 10 feet and begin to get a breath.
Aquatots
This program is designed specifically for 3 year olds who cannot swim.
The class captures the child’s imagination and sense of fun through the
use of daily themes. The goal of the class is to get happy children swimming
5 feet and build confidence.
Advanced Aquatots
For 3 year olds who have achieved the ability to swim 5 feet. Daily themes
and games entertain children while they learn to swim 10 feet and begin
to grab a breath while swimming.
Advanced Aquatots
For 3 year olds who have achieved the ability to swim 5 feet. Daily themes
and games entertain children while they learn to swim 10 feet and begin
to grab a breath while swimming.
Super Aquatots
A class for accomplished 3 year olds who can swim 10 feet and are beginning
to get a breath while swimming. Daily themes and games are used to teach
children to enjoy swimming 15 feet while practicing breathing.
(Typically ages 4 years and up)
Preschool Beginners
The class for 4 and 5 year olds who cannot yet swim. Daily themes create
fun-filled lessons to teach the children how to swim 5 feet.
Beginners
A class for 6 year olds and up who cannot swim. Students learn to hold
their breath for 10 seconds; to lie still and float for 10 seconds; and
to kick and pull forward through the water for 10 seconds.
Advanced Beginners
This course is for 4 year olds and up who can swim 5 feet. The goal is
to teach children to swim 20 feet (the width of the pool) and get at least
1 independent breath.
Advanced Beginners II
Designed for 4 year olds and up who can swim the width of the pool but
still need to learn how to get an independent breath.
Intermediate Swimmers
A class for 5 year olds and up who can swim 20 feet and get at least 1
independent breath. The goal of this course is to teach children to swim
for 40 feet (1 length of the pool) with several independent breaths.
Advanced Intermediates
This class is for 6 year olds and up who are currently swimming 40 feet
and getting several breaths. At the end of this class the students should
be swimming both freestyle with rolling breaths and elementary backstroke
80 feet (2 lengths of the pool).
Advanced Swimmers
The class for 7 year olds and up who perform the freestyle stroke with
rolling breaths and elementary backstroke. Rhythmic breathing and maintaining
breaststroke for 80 feet (2 lengths of the pool) are the goals for this
course.
Super Swimmers
A course for 8 year olds and up who have achieved rhythmic breathing and
breaststroke. The goal of this class is swimming the competitive backstroke
and butterfly stroke for 80 feet (2 lengths of the pool).
Pre Teen
For 8 year olds and up who swim competitive backstroke and butterfly stroke.
The goal of this course is to swim all 4 competitive strokes for 160 feet
(2 laps of the pool) and the introduction of snorkeling, synchronized swimming
and water safety skills.
The Australian 800
This is an international swimming test for students who are able to swim
each of the 4 competitive strokes in 2 consecutive laps of the pool. Judging
is based upon the student’s skill, form and ability to swim the total 8
lengths without stopping. Interested students need only to make an appointment
to take the test. A medal is awarded to successful swimmers, and their pictures
are displayed at the swim school.
