Our philosophy is simple. We believe that the bridge of life is made up of several building blocks: family, school, friends, religion, achievements, career path and many more. And the
keystone in that bridge of life might just be a nurturing summer camp experience. Thus our name, Camp Keystone.
Look at it this way: every lesson in life has an appropriate classroom. For some lessons, that classroom is camp. For example, Camp Keystone will provide your children with summer experiences that simply aren't available in the home, at school, or at your church or synagogue. It's an opportunity for children to grow, to test their limits (and to know their limits), to gain confidence, and to use their imaginations. We believe it's a wonderfully fun way to round out a child's pesonality with valuable life experiences.
As adults, some of our fondest memories are of those warm summer days we spent at camp. We made new
friends. We developed skills we never knew we had. And, we had a whole lot of fun.
Naturally, then, Camp Keystone is dedicated to the spirit of learning and kinship we parents enjoyed when we were children attending camp. We emphasize the traditional values so many of us yearn to see as part of our childrens' educational and socialization process. And yet, Camp Keystone is so much more.
Realizing that the world has changed and progressed in so many ways, we also offer all of the kinds of activities today's kids need to capture their interest and remain challenged.
When I decided to open a summer day camp I envisioned an environment where children could experience all the things I wanted as a child - to be acknowledged as an individual, to be adventurous and explorative and to have a memorable summer vacation! Camp Keystone is that place. Located on over 30 acres in the Santa Monica Mountains, our grounds offer a lush, park-like environment with masses of shade trees and 4 acres of irrigated green lawn. We are accredited by the American Camping Association and we practice the applicable health and safety regulations and guidelines to insure your camper's happiness and well being.
I have been privileged to be around children for more than thirty years, with 12 years experience running Camp Keystone. In addition to directing camp Keystone I'm a consultant for other day camps and a parent of twins! What I want for all my campers is what I also want for my own children, a place to learn, trust, grow and let the imagination soar!
